Our Mission

At Paracas, we create climate-adaptive skincare using botanicals sourced from the exact environments they're designed to protect against — because when you understand how nature adapts, you can create skincare that truly works with the world around us.

For us, climate represents three interconnected concepts: the micro-environments where we play, dwell, and explore; our responsibility for environmental sustainability; and the immersive experiences that connect us to the natural world.

Inspired by the harshest climates on the planet

It started with exposure to extreme climates on the South American altiplano. After three days of desert sun and dry heat, our founder encountered some of the harshest climates that immediately took a toll on his skin health.

The relentless desert sun, bone-dry winds, and harsh environmental conditions presented challenges that conventional skincare simply couldn't handle. Yet all around him, local communities had thrived in these environments for centuries, their traditional botanicals naturally adapted to withstand the very conditions that seemed so punishing.

The answer was in the environment itself

This contrast sparked a profound realization: nature had already solved the problem of surviving in harsh climates. Plants in these regions had evolved over thousands of years to not just survive, but flourish in extreme conditions. If these botanicals could adapt so successfully to their environments, why couldn't our skincare do the same?

Later research would confirm this insight — 84% of survey respondents indicated that climate is a very important or important factor in the types of skincare products they use, yet the market only offered one-size-fits-all routines.

That insight launched a five-year research journey, working closely with botanists and cosmetic chemists to understand how climate-evolved plants could transform skincare. Paracas was born from this revelation.
